Your purple fountain reminded me a little of our Carex Buchanii. My wife loves this one, it took some time for it to grow on me, to be quite honest the brown leaves with no hint of colour looks exactly the same in Summer as it does in Winter.Alistairhttp://www.aberdeengardening.co.uknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2605500993437899334.post-83705786231699421482011-01-25T01:01:41.488-08:002011-01-25T01:01:41.488-08:00Is the purple as beautiful in real life as it is i...Is the purple as beautiful in real life as it is in the photo?

LucyLucy Corrander Now in Halifax!https://www.blogger.com/profile/14685242329129914772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2605500993437899334.post-13842503944317058142011-01-24T20:07:47.317-08:002011-01-24T20:07:47.317-08:00Hi Laguna Dirt! My suggestion is to join the LB Garden Club and go on their member's tours. A great way to see local gardens that aren't always open to the public! The annual garden tour is coming up in May too. They always showcase great local gardens!Sheilahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15126794179121146839noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2605500993437899334.post-72007912114792209772011-01-24T20:04:10.199-08:002011-01-24T20:04:10.199-08:00sbwrites - as soon as you see new growth emerging ...sbwrites - as soon as you see new growth emerging at the base is the time to cut them back, almost to the ground. They will look a bit sparse for a few weeks but soon the new growth will come up and they will be rejuvenated. If you don't cut them back the older foliage will start turning brown and the whole plant will look scraggly and start to flop and look messy. Good luck!Sheilahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15126794179121146839noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2605500993437899334.post-22311788640674901312011-01-24T18:52:17.940-08:002011-01-24T18:52:17.940-08:00i just found your blog. beautiful! i live in LB, t...i just found your blog. beautiful! i live in LB, too! i just posted on hortense miller's garden! would love to pick your gardening brain for interesting local gardens to profile!Laguna Dirthttp://www.lagunadirt.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2605500993437899334.post-65297804676953294932011-01-24T18:49:16.045-08:002011-01-24T18:49:16.045-08:00Austin's cut-back time is a little later than ...Austin's cut-back time is a little later than yours, around Valentine's Day. And, others that have been "chopped" in such a way they also look terrible. In advance of an answer, thanks!sbwriteshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05881627992105939490noreply@blogger.com
