My Anna apple trees are starting to bloom. They are early blooming types. My ones in Laguna always get pollinated despite the fact that I don't have any other apple trees that bloom at the same time for the required cross pollination. There must be others in the neighborhood that do the trick. Meanwhile, I will have to see how my Anna trees in SJC do without another type apple tree and then decide if I need to plant a cross pollinator tree. We must grow apple trees with low-chill requirements in the area or we will not get fruit.

Anna in Bloom
My Anna apple trees are starting to bloom. They are early blooming types. Those are lovely blooms Sheila. I should take another look at my apple tree, although the blooms never look that great! Thanks for the picks, too.

ReplyDeleteApple blossoms are beautiful. Are they fragrant too? Anna is the best variety for my zone 9 garden as well. How is the taste - sweet or tart?

I love seeing apple trees in bloom. I hadn't heard of the Anna variety before.
ReplyDeleteSusan, this is a sweet, green apple. The blooms are not very fragrant, at least not like citrus blooms.
