Spontaneous Gardening Tools
I am always on the lookout for large, inexpensive baskets. I use them for collecting weeds and clippings and they usually end up sitting somewhere in the garden where I leave them when I get interrupted. Because they are aesthetically pleasing, they aren't too much of an eyesore and do encourage me to pick up where I left off when I wander around the garden. Much prettier than plastic and even though they break down after being left in the elements for a few years, I consider them some of my favorite garden tools.

That would be nice to use(-: I use a wheelbarrow because when I weed or clip I have a ton and its easier to move that way(-: Sometimes my wheelbarrow will sit out too.(-:
ReplyDeleteWhat a very clever idea. I'm afraid our climate really wouldn't suit it though - even when it doesn't rain we get very heavy dew for most of the year and wooden things rot terribly quickly. Even so... I'll still snap up a basket if I see one and give it a go!

ReplyDeleteI agree: this is a good idea; nothing like visuals to remind you of what you were doing. I actually like the breakdown aspect of baskets; when they've passed the point of being good even for the roughest work, you can compost or burn them. Plastic, on the other hand, usually has to be picked up shred by shred and recycled or put in the landfill.
ReplyDeleteI like it! The kids and I usually end up using their plastic sand toy buckets, which are easy for them to lug around. I may start leaving a basket out for myself, though.

ReplyDeleteThat is such a good idea. I tend to use tub trugs, because you can carry water, or pond plants, in them, and they come in bright, cheerful colours (pink, purple, lime etc). I wouldn't want to leave them lying around, but your basket looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteCount me in for your excellent idea ... now why didn't I think of that! Perhaps because I'm not a pretty gardener, face filled with dirt; once in the garden, stay put for hours praying no one stops to visit :)
ReplyDeleteI love that photo! And what a great idea the baskets are. I like to use one when I pick flowers for a bouquet, but I'll have to keep my eyes open for something bigger.
