Developing Character
It takes some time for a garden, or a home for that matter, to develop character. After two years our SJC garden is starting to look like the garden I've imagined, if only in certain spots, like this 'Eden' rose softening the formal baluster.
OMG that is so gorgeous! What a classic combination, stone and roses. It's breathtaking.
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful and you are right it does take time. Great shot
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.. Character just doesn't happen. I thought my husband and I were the only ones that used that word for gardens...
ReplyDeleteSheila, I think a lot of us are finding our "character" at the same time .. although for me it took a longer time. We moved so often it was actually hard to believe I could really let myself love my home and garden. It is a wonderful feeling : )
ReplyDeleteYour roses are doing the job of building character ! : )
The rose looks so lovely there.
ReplyDeleteThe pale pink and stone gray color combination is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love the pink against the grey. That is a beautiful setting. It is nice when Character sets in(-:
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautifull flower.. remind me with my past..
ReplyDeleteSheila, what a pretty soft shade of pink. Great site too as everyone passing would have to stop and smell. My garden is 11 years in the making and it's still not as I want it so it does take time..lots of time!

I agree Sheila. I've lived in my home for 8 years and only the last three has it developed some character. I spent the first five thinking I was going to move and doing nothing! I finally got happy and starting making it mine. This scene is breathtaking and only going to get better with time!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice combination of the hard and the soft! I think you have a winner there!
ReplyDeleteThat is a very beautiful garden you have. Very romantic!
