I Agree With The Cats
Nepeta, also know as catmint, is one of my favorite plants to use in flower beds. It is drought tolerant and a good substitute for lavender with spikes of light purple flowers all summer long. It grows quickly and makes a great filler plant for beds. It is fragrant and yes, cats love it!
It is very pretty, don't want to attract all of the stray cats around here, my husband would not be happy.
ReplyDeleteAmen! I love mine too. It is so soft looking, long blooming, I love the scent and gray-green color. It also clumps up so fast in the spring....it is a quick filler when everything else is just barely up. Mine is almost blooming and will bloom till late November. Hugs....Brooke
ReplyDeletevery pretty, I have never seen Catmint but will be on the look out for it now.

I'd love to grow catmint. I had 3 goes and then gave up. Even with a frame of chicken wire round it, our cats found a way of getting to it. There is a chance it didn't like our heavy/ solid dry soil.
ReplyDeleteI thought catmint was invasive and have thus stayed away from it. Yours looks so nice I may have to try it! I can't grow lavender to save my life this looks like a nice alternative!
ReplyDeleteMy mom has tons of that, along with catnip, in her garden. Of course the felines of the neighborhood love to stop by for a whiff! Yours is lovely.
ReplyDeleteThat is really pretty. I had some before but I have no idea where it went too. Adding that to my list!
ReplyDeleteFor Mothers Day I received a Chocolate Mint plant. It smells just like a Ghirardelli Chocolate Mint candy bar! Yummy!!!

Oh, nepeta, nepeta, nepeta! I have it in white and it's great in the drought-tolerant white garden. My dog keeps the cats away.
