A "White" Blue Hibiscus
I use Blue Hibiscus (alyogyne huegelii) quite often in my gardens because I love the color and they are so drought tolerant and bloom for most of the year. The key to keeping them blooming and attractive is to constantly cut them back, otherwise they get leggy. Having an all white garden is an adventure in seeking out good performers with white blooms and this 'White Swan' Blue Hibiscus meets that criteria.
Your white hibiscus is really pretty!!! I love hibiscus!
ReplyDeleteMy hibiscus bloom for a while and maybe that is why they don't bloom all summer. I will try cutting them back after they bloom(-: I usually just cut off the dead flower.
Or maybe its to hot here in the summer for them to keep blooming?
I sure love to see them bloom when they do. I have a couple really pretty ones.
Hi Sheila! I've never seen a white hibiscus. I don't think it's warm enough here to have it permanently in the garden, but I'd rather read more about its hardiness. Your White swan is lovely!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful. I notice the shape of the leaves is not the same with the ones we have here. Interesting ;-)
ReplyDeleteI've added another post to try to clear up some of the confusion on this different kind of hibiscus!
ReplyDeleteHi Sheila, I admire your white gardens, such a serene and relaxing place to spend quality time. The hibiscus is a fabulous plant, with the large flowers, even if the name says blue. :-)
