This is about life in my gardens. One is an acre on a hillside in Laguna Beach, California and the other is an acre in San Juan Capistrano, California.

Somethings Just Require Grass
Although I am working diligently to remove most of the lawns around our SJC home, my family is quick to remind me that there are somethings which require a grassy lawn. Annie here is indulging in one of them!
why do you want to remove the grass? it looks beautiful and not only the dogs love it, but also the kiddos. You should definitely leave a grass area for everyone to play at.
Firstly, I thought that you somehow got into my garden and took a picture of my dog! Does she snorting while doing this? I read that this is the way to pick up the smell of wild animals or something else that they like. I think that this is their work out!
Salime, because we live in an area with very little rainfall having water-loving grass is not such a good idea. We are continually in drought situations here and water is treated like a valuable resource. There are water restrictions in place, but not affecting landscaping yet. If they do ask us to cut back on watering plants there will be a big dead patch where the lawns once were.
Good for you on getting rid of your grass. Grass is definitely a bad idea here in California. But somethings do require it - dogs, kids, playing soccer...
So cute! My Ellie loves to do that too. I have to have grass just for her. She'd be devastated. -Jackie
ReplyDeleteCute! I love it when our dogs roll and scratch their backs on the grass! Your dog is beautiful.

ReplyDeleteYeah, you should leave an area just for that back scratchin'!
