This is about life in my gardens. One is an acre on a hillside in Laguna Beach, California and the other is an acre in San Juan Capistrano, California.

Can't Remember
I am very fond of this charming perennial that is blooming right now in my garden, but for-the-life-of-me, I can't remember it's name! It is about four feet tall and herbaceous. Luckily I can enjoy it without addressing it formally!
Hi Sheila! I have this plant ~ complete with plant tag (because it's new for me) ~ it reads Royal Queen Purple Violet Tubeflower (Iochroma hybrid). I saw it on the Internet last year and wanted it so badly. It's wonderful that it's a perennial there. I finally found it here this winter and have been keeping it indoors until it's safe to plant out.
If you do remember, please do post. I'd love to see if I can get it to grow here in eastern NC.
ReplyDeleteMexican Limelight Salvia? It looks like mine which is also in bloom here in Costa Mesa.
ReplyDeleteIt is a nice plant...
ReplyDeleteLove it but don't know what it is.

Kathleen, thank you so much for that identification! I shall have to write it down for a garden tour I'm having next month!
