Agapanthus Seeds

There are a few agapanthus flower heads that have been overlooked in the Laguna garden and they have gone to seed. I have never heard of anyone growing them from seed since they are so easily divided for propagation, but I'm sure it can be done.

  1. I love trying things like that, just to see what happens. I would think that they can grow from seed. You will have to let us know what happens.

  2. I've accidentally grown alliums from seed (Allium christophii), having them self-seed in the garden. I know those take a few years to reach flowering size. It might be worth a try for your agapanthus, if you have a spare corner... and if you like the agapanthus. Do the colours come true from seed?

  3. I had two agapanthus plants spring up from seed in my Santa Clara, CA backyard. There weren't any other agapanthus in the fenced backyard, so I think the birds must have brought the seeds. They quickly grew into large plants and were even divided in the 3 years we lived there.

  4. Helen, I really don't know if they are true to color when they come up from seed or not. It may take a few years to find out!

  7. si se pueden reproducir por semillas los agapantos, se siembran en semillero y salen plantitas pequeñas, que van creciendo, yo las hice así
