Agapanthus Seeds
There are a few agapanthus flower heads that have been overlooked in the Laguna garden and they have gone to seed. I have never heard of anyone growing them from seed since they are so easily divided for propagation, but I'm sure it can be done.
I love trying things like that, just to see what happens. I would think that they can grow from seed. You will have to let us know what happens.
ReplyDeleteI've accidentally grown alliums from seed (Allium christophii), having them self-seed in the garden. I know those take a few years to reach flowering size. It might be worth a try for your agapanthus, if you have a spare corner... and if you like the agapanthus. Do the colours come true from seed?
ReplyDeleteI had two agapanthus plants spring up from seed in my Santa Clara, CA backyard. There weren't any other agapanthus in the fenced backyard, so I think the birds must have brought the seeds. They quickly grew into large plants and were even divided in the 3 years we lived there.
ReplyDeleteHelen, I really don't know if they are true to color when they come up from seed or not. It may take a few years to find out!
ReplyDeleteThank you, that was extremely valuable and interesting...I will be back again to read more on this topic.
ReplyDeleteTop web site, I had not noticed gardensofpetersonville.blogspot.com earlier in my searches!
ReplyDeleteContinue the superb work!
si se pueden reproducir por semillas los agapantos, se siembran en semillero y salen plantitas pequeñas, que van creciendo, yo las hice así
