Lucky New Year

With the holidays behind us (except for the Super Bowl, which is a holiday at our house) it is nice to get back to the garden and blogging. I have been very busy with company and travel and have gone nearly three weeks without so much as a walk around the garden. Although I didn't get out much last month, nature found a way to come inside and find me in the way of this charming praying mantis. It was on a cardboard box I was bringing in from the garage in which to ship ship presents. It is the first time I have ever seen one! Last year I read a novel and there was a reoccurring theme of praying mantis bringing luck. I can't remember the book, but I'm looking forward to the luck!

  1. The color of this mantis is jade, isn't it? Maybe, this year will bring you some new jewelry?

  3. We were excited to find a little praying mantis in the yard last year. Whether or not they bring luck, I'm just glad they eat pests!

  6. I have considered purchasing praying mantis and ladybugs to release in my garden to eat the aphids. My grandsons want me to get mantis. Now I know they bring luck, maybe I will this year.
