Results of Rain

Although this is not technically my garden in Laguna, it is the open field next door as seen from our deck. It is totally wild and is only green in the spring from all the rainfall we have been having. One of the lovely silver linings to all this wet!

  2. We've gotten plenty of wet here, but the cold has all my grass brown. I look forward to summers when I can push mow, have sweat dripping down my face, and drink iced tea by the gallons.

  4. What a nice view you have!

I have a real need to see green in late winter, probably from my toddler days when Daddy Mack grew wheat.

Now that we don't have cows and winter grain for them, I plant 50 pounds of annual ryegrass in late fall, starting in the front yard and going as far as it will. By now we have green grass that lasts until the dormant summer lawn grasses green up.

  5. You're so lucky to have an open field next to you Sheila. It's pretty so green like it is now.
