Sweet Surprises
Tucked in a corner under an avocado tree in Laguna I stumbled across an old plastic pot that was filled with the loveliest lilies in perfect bloom. It was probably a gift or something I picked up to brighten the house at a holiday many years ago that never made it to be planted in the garden proper, so it just lives on with little care or notice year after year. It is sweet surprises like this that I cherish from my garden.
That is an awesome surprise. Wow!
ReplyDeleteSo, are you going to plant 'em at some point? Have they earned a reprieve from the plastic pot?
ReplyDeleteOoh, that's a sweet treat! Beautiful color on that lily. Amazing that it's still alive. It seems anytime I discover some long, lost plant hiding out, it's quite dead at that point. Plastic and Florida heat don't go well together.
ReplyDeleteI am convinced that lilies have a secret life underground. They are quite forgiving, but respond to well to just a bit of encouragement.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful surprise. I have a similar pot in my garden with some tulips that someone gifted. I always forget it's there until it surprises me with blooms. I love those sorts of surprises!
ReplyDeleteI look at each blossom as a sweet surprise. I just love to check each day to see what's in bloom.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely is that?
