This is about life in my gardens. One is an acre on a hillside in Laguna Beach, California and the other is an acre in San Juan Capistrano, California.

What Are Lawns Good For?
Playing baseball with your cousin.
Learning the fine art of throwing a Frisbee.
Running through the sprinklers on a hot summer day.
Although the great lawn at our SJC home is the center of my Moonlight Garden, it gets a good workout in the summer from the grandkids who were here for a week. No pesticides or heavy fertilizers make it an ideal place to partake in a few of the childhood rituals that become childhood memories.
I'm with you on this - I know its teendy to pull up one's lawn and plant waterwise perenniels, but I do feel a home needs a small grass patch for kids to play on! Yours is lovely! I'm busy redoing mine - I hope it looks as good as yours really soon!
I agree! Nothing better than walking barefoot through a soft patch of grass. Your lawn looks nice and well cared for. The perfect spot to play, no matter your age!
Dear Sheila, Your 'No-pesticides-or-heavy-fertilizers' lawn looks wonderful! Mine is full of Japanese stilt grass, all of a sudden. But I agree with you that a lawn is a necessity, especially with grandchildren. So I guess we'll just keep mowing the weeds. P. x
Your lawn looks wonderful! My lawn takes such a beating with my 4 sons. Everynow and then I ban them from playing on it to give it time to recover! x Sharon

ReplyDeleteThere's nothing wrong with a lawn if it gets used!
ReplyDeleteIt's the ones that don't that are the waste. Lovely post. Nothing happier than happy kids.
