This is about life in my gardens. One is an acre on a hillside in Laguna Beach, California and the other is an acre in San Juan Capistrano, California.

Our Latest Project
Say good-bye to this lawn in the Buddha Garden in SJC! We are replacing it with a gravel garden and I am very excited about it! I was on a garden tour in Beverly Hills a few month ago and had the opportunity to walk through a lovely shady gravel garden and I fell in love with the ambiance of the cool, crunchy gravel and the occasional iris coming up through the stones. This area is rarely ever used and seems to be more of a walk through space when coming from the back yard (up the steps to te right) to Palm Alley and on to the pool area. I am looking for the just the right harvest table and chairs to go here and am figuring out a way to hang a chandelier from the pepper tree!

Oh I can't wait to see the gravel garden. I bet it will be so cool! I am sick of lawn too and wish I could do something like that! I will be watching for your progress on your new project(-: The table/chandy sound really neat too!
Me too! Waiting to see the gravel garden, because I've been thinking of doing the same to save water.
Dir lawn, die! Huzzuh!
Projects are great fun, I've got a few in mind and can't wait. Good luck with yours.
Goodbye lawn! That is so exciting...I will be watching for updates...we are going to be doing something similar. Have fun! gail
Sheila, I really enjoy it when someone posts about a new project. I think yours is going to be really exciting. I love gravel as well, I know it can be a difficult to keep weeds out but I am really pleased that I got rid of my lawn (small back garden on two levels) and put gravel down. I edged all the borders with log roll (approx 2 inch diameter logs cut in half and wired together)and I keep the gravel paths free of plant with boiling water. I also use container in the larger areas (not that any area is large!).
Best wishes Sylvia (England)
I'll be looking forward to seeing how it turns out. It sounds like it'll look great.
Fantastic! I can't wait to see the finished product! You have some spectacular landscaping.
