Last year I wrote with amazement that our ponytail palm (Beaucarnea recurvata) was blooming, something I had never witnessed before. Well this year it has a number of large, looming blooms! I am not familiar with the blooming habits of this plant, I hope it doesn't die back like yuccas or agaves!

Ponytail Blooms
Last year I wrote with amazement that our ponytail palm (Beaucarnea recurvata) was blooming, something I had never witnessed before. Well this year it has a number of large, looming blooms! I am not familiar with the blooming habits of this plant, I hope it doesn't die back like yuccas or agaves!

Wonderfully unique -- I've never seen anything like it, Sheila.
Have no fear your ponytail will be just fine. Last year, down here in the Fl. Keys, ours bloomed, was pollinated and produced a mess of seeds.No die back at all.

I wish I could grow a sago palm here in North Carolina without it dying from the frost. :(
