Erysimum, or as it is known by its common name, Wallflower, is a staple in my flower beds because of its easy going nature.
It is a perennial that blooms here for about ten months out of the year if it is deadheaded about once a month. Other than that it has few requirements or problems.
It does require regular water and so I place it in partial shady areas that don't dry out too much. It gets to be about two feet high and wide and it is easy to forget about which is why I guess it is called "Wallflower".

What a gorgeous plant -- I especially like the muted colours in the second photo. Very pretty.
Beautiful flower. I just started with flowers. I have Hollyhocks coming up.
Hi Sheila,
I like your post on these gorgeous low water plants. Nice blog. We are both spoiled southern Californians!

Hi, just visiting back. You have a nice site with lots of beautiful flowers. And a cat named Goose - that's kind of funny.
Being from NC zone 7, you can understand why I'm envious of any plant that blooms for 10 months - Lucky!
Hi Sheila! I bought this plant with a tag saying Russian Wallflower. Being a Russian, I got curious, looked through the Internet and found only a yellow variety shown on Russian sites. Hybrid? My plant was blooming almost non-stop and performed great during dry weather. But after this winter, it died. Bad winter or short-lived plant? I am not sure. How old are your plants?
Tatyana, I have had wallflowers growing for about four years so far.
