This is about life in my gardens. One is an acre on a hillside in Laguna Beach, California and the other is an acre in San Juan Capistrano, California.

Pond in Disguise
Somewhere under all these water hyacinths is my little pond in Laguna. I have had it over twelve years, originally built by myself and my son, it is mostly a natural pond with the only filtration coming from the water plants and fish. At this time of year the water hyacinths take over and grow faster than I can keep them thinned out and unless you knew it, you would think it is just a patch of plants under a tree.

I guess this is where one can imagine a scene from a comedy in which someone being chased doesn't stop to consider that they should probably not run across that patch of green...

Gorgeous bloom on that Water Hyacinth. I have to agree with KD, I could just see myself stepping into the pond by accident. :)
I love the way the leaves are so thick and shiny. Healthy plants so the pond ph must be perfectly in balance.
