This is about life in my gardens. One is an acre on a hillside in Laguna Beach, California and the other is an acre in San Juan Capistrano, California.

Grape Hyacinth
I love these charming little blue grape hyacinths that have naturalized along the steps in Laguna. Because it is on a hillside, small details like this are closer to the eye and add charm that can be lost in a large, flat garden.
Hyacinths are pretty. I like them. If fact, I enjoy most perinnials, as opposed to annuals, and certainly biennials. Not that there aren't pretty ones, but it seems like an awful lot of work with very little reward. I'm not so sure about that vegetarian thing. Someone else is trying to convince me, too. But I so love my meat and potatoes. Besides, what would we do with all those cows, and chickens, and pigs if everyone quit eating meat? I'm not against it at all. It's just not my thing. ~Randy
