Double-Double Daffodil

I must admit that when it comes to spring bulbs, I go for quantity over quality. Most of my daffodils come in bags of 100 from Costco. I have long since forgotten any of the names of them. This pretty one is just about the only double one that I have growing and I think it is lovely. Maybe next year I will be choosier about the bulbs I plant and try for some more unique ones.

Hi Sheila, I love that double daff..I bet it's fragrant too! I'm a transplant(NJ) from Southern Calif. (Oceanside) so I know Laguna a little. 20 plus years on the east coast and I'm still not loving snow..ha~ Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog. I will have to come back and read your archives when I have more time..your photos are beautiful.

Thank you for visiting my blog and for your advice. I haven't watered the garden and only let the rain do it and things have improved dramatically. You have such a beautiful garden and so much space to explore your creativity! I've exhausted my plot space and have to resist moving things so I can keep planting!

I do the same thing Sheila. That has been a great way to fill my garden economically especially in the early days. This double one is a beauty!

That's a super lovely one! Sorry, don't know the name. I buy spendy bulbs from the Arboretum up here in Seattle but then am remiss about keeping track of their names, so I think your method is better. I didn't know you could grow daffs in SoCal! Do you have to chill them or something and then they're annuals?

Karen, no chilling required for daffodils. They naturalize very easily here and come back year after year! One of the few bulbs that do that.

I love daffodils! I have a few different types growing in the yard too. I don't know their names either. I have ordered some and some were given to me.(-:

What a lovely bloom. I just purchased some oriental lilies from Costco - 18 for $12 is a fabulous price - I think I'm hooked. I'll have to check in the fall to see what daffs they have - VW
